Our New Roof

Well last week we had a really scary ordeal. Mom explained to us kitty's that we were going to get a new roof, and she said was going to be a little noisy in our home. She said that she knew sooner or later this would happen. This was from the damage we had from a hail storm last summer, the insurance adjustors took their time and then because we decided to wait on a reliable company to do our roof. When storms come through mom said that everybody is looking for cheap help and all kind of bad ordeals happen such as scam. A little noisy my bigfoot! That was a big lie! The roofers arrived at 9:AM on the first day, they brought ladders, saws, and other monster machines. I heard the first crash as they had to get a forklift and unload the shingles, plywood, and other supplies. That machine was going beep beep beep and then with a thud, they put all supplies in the driveway. Then it sounded like a thousand hungry ants up on the roof. Next thing we know they are throwing all the old shingles off and wood shingles were covered over by some newer shingles. Next thin we know they go and knock the satellite over to side of roof and we didn't have TV. It was like living in the dark ages with nothing to do. I cried and meowed loud about this. Then we hear them guys had a radio up there listening to some Mexican radio station. I am like what in the world? My siblings Wally, Princess, Tigger, and Pepe where all deathly afraid of the noises going on. However, mom did praise me and said I was very brave. I ventured out and spoke my mind about the noise. I made a real fuss about missing my favorite programs on TV, so mom tried to make it up to me by serving tuna. The second day they arrived at 8:AM and they stay until about 7:PM, luckily they fininshed the job the second day. Mom said for us having to endure the noises and strangers we got more tuna and catnip. Well we have a nice new roof now. It is a beautiful slate grey the contractor said it brought out the color of our bricks. I am just happy no more noise to complain about. Purrs until next time.

  1. I know your pain. We had a new roof last fall. The noise was terrible and there was no where in the house I could get away from it. Didn't matter what floor I was on. Glad it's over and that you survived ok. What we poor kitties have to endure!

  2. You think that was bad, yesterday neighbor was moving. The banging and crashing started at 8:20 am. We're right by the elevator so it's real loud crashing and banging. TW felt so bad because I kept hiding under the bed.

  3. Oh dear - the peeps say we should get a new roof. YIKIES - I don't know if I wants to put up with all dat noisy stuff. I do like my peace and quiet. So nice of your mom to stay home with you. It would have been more scary not to have her around. Now you can take a long winter nap in peace.

  4. It was still fortunate you kitties only endured 2 days of noise and no tv. Other contractors would take weeks to finish, and they won't be working everyday. Good thing mom chose a crew that WORKED on the roof!
